There are many paths to writer’s guilt, including feeling guilty that you’re not enjoying it enough! Here we have the privilege to be making a book, so why are we whining? 🙂 But I think you’re right that fear plays such a huge part. For me, mainly fear that it won’t be worth it. I try to overcome this by focusing on the moment. I enjoy myself SO much more when I don’t think about how far I am from a first draft. Feeding those positive feelings is what will keep me “showing up” day after day until eventually I have a book. I am going to let myself feel the negative feelings too, and then do my best to set them aside after I pay a little attention to them.
