I’ve been doing the query work and looking for best fit agents for several weeks now.
This weekend I had both you and Carrie Prestritto up at my top A list.
Which one of you might be the more interested in children’s narrative nonfiction story?
Thank you!!

Agenting is a job that requires a lot of different skills. What would say say is the most important skill that sets an “okay agent” apart from a “great agent”?

I’m really curious, what does a typical day in the office look like for you?
Thanks so much for your time 😀

Greetings,
Thank you for doing this. If someone queries you and they’ve been represented before by an agent, do you want to know that in the query or is that a conversation for later if things progress? Also, if it’s been several years since that relationship ended is it still important to mention?

How do you keep tabs on what editors / publishers are looking for, and is there a cycle to how you go on submissions with your clients’ work?

I’ve combed through manuscript wishlists and tried to make a list of agents I would query once I’m ready to. I’ve been wondering if there’s any agents would be interested in YA Urban Fantasy that has some religious themes or draws inspiration from religion (ex: Judaism and Christianity…) Lately I’ve been feeling slightly discouraged because I don’t see much YA books with good representation of religion or characters who are serious about their faith. Or faith not being just a title but a important part of the story.

For picture book and middle grade nonfiction, do you recommend a marketing paragraph in the query letter? I know that’s an important part of the middle grade proposal, so does it help for you to see that information up front?

How do you feel about comp titles? Do they influence you to ask to see more or can they cause you to say you’re not interested?
Do you represent chapter book authors? Thank you.
I am Canadian, and planning on querying agents in Canada, US and UK – is there anything specific I should know/mention in my query because of this?
SO HELPFUL!!!!!
