Heather believes children are what makes this world so colorful. When she looks at the sparkles in their eyes, she remembers the child inside her still dreams. She anchors herself in this as she immerses herself into her creative storytelling adventures.
Heather grew up in a household filled with fairy tales and fantastical stories. Her love for reading and working with children led her down a path as a National Board Certified Teacher, educating students with special needs. She took stories and brought them to life by recreating scenes from books, engrossing the students into the story. Her creative spirit journeyed her to Africa where she worked with students on literacy projects for the community. This built a bridge for her to venture out and write an absorbing and imaginative fantasy fiction, Colors of the World: Adventures, which received ‘Honorable Mention’ in the 2018 Hollywood Book Festival. This is the first installment of the Legends of the Five Realms Series. A year later she released Guardian of the Dream Tree, the second book in the series.
Heather was a teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District for 15 years as a Special Education Teacher and a National Board Certified Teacher as an Exceptional Needs Specialist. She has since resigned from the school district and pursued writing full time, living in Long Beach California with her family.
Heather has participated in sharing her stories and speaking at 2019 Kidz Con Los Angeles, 2019 Orange County Children’s Book Festival, 2019 Kidz Con Winter Wonderland New York City among other local conferences around California.
She is also the Creative Arts Director and Co-Prayer leader at her church. She enjoys putting on performances and working with her team through dance, skits and American Sign Language choir.
