Writing is hard (wonderful and hard). I’ll share strategies that helped me in the nine years to publication and that help me now, because writing doesn’t–and also does–get easier.

Gail Carson Levine has written twenty-six books for children. Her best-known is Ella Enchanted, which won a Newbery honor in 1998 and was made into a motion picture in 2004. Her latest is the historical novel A Ceiling Made of Eggshells about the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. Most of her books are middle-grade fantasy novels, but Writing Magic and Writer to Writer are middle-grade nonfiction about writing stories. She and her husband David and their Airedale Reggie live in Brewster, New York.
