Gail Carson Levine’s best-known book is Ella Enchanted, which won a Newbery honor and was made into a major motion picture. Her latest, Ogre Enchanted, a gender-reversed “Beauty and the Beast,” is a prequel. In addition to her fantasy novels, she has Dave at Night, a historical novel; two picture books, Betsy Who Cried Wolf and Betsy Red Hoodie; a humorous poetry collection, Forgive Me, I Meant To Do It; and two how-to’s for kids about writing, Writing Magic and Writer to Writer. Her forthcoming second historical novel for kids, A Ceiling Made of Eggshells is about the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, which happened in 1492.
