Critique Boutique Terms & Conditions:
Acceptance of Terms
Continuing with the checkout process represents an understanding and acceptance on your part of the terms below. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not complete your order. WriteOnCon Inc. (“We”) reserves the right to modify or update these terms at any time, at WriteOnCon Inc.’s (“our”) discretion. WriteOnCon Inc. will send the new terms to the email address you submitted and it is your responsibility to contact us to request a cancellation and refund if you do not agree to the new terms.
If you are under 18 years of age, you must review these terms and conditions with a parent/guardian. Your parent/guardian must give you permission before you make a purchase in WriteOnCon’s Critique Boutique.
You must set up a WriteOnCon account through our website in order to make a Critique Boutique purchase and submit your materials for feedback. It is free to create a WriteOnCon account.
To set up your WriteOnCon account, you must provide us with:
- Your full legal name
- Your full address
- Your email address
- A username for our website
- A password for our website
In addition, the WriteOnCon Inc. website collects IP addresses and uses browser cookies to provide you with a streamlined experience on our website.
WriteOnCon Inc. takes your privacy seriously and will not share your personal information (such as your email address) with third parties unless it is deemed necessary due to safety or legal reasons.
Your Critique Boutique Purchase
Your purchase entitles you only to the interaction specified in the product description, and not to anything beyond it. A critique involves a single read and feedback, not an ongoing dialogue. An individual Boutique critiquer may choose to extend the interaction at their discretion; this is a bonus, not a promise. Critiquers are in no way obligated to provide anything beyond the scope of what was outlined in the product description.
No critiquer can promise to secure a buyer a publishing contract, an offer of representation, or similar. Though a critiquer may formally request a submission package, they are under no obligation to do so and buyers should not expect it.
Harassment and Accessibility Policies
By registering for a WriteOnCon account and/or making a purchase through our Critique Boutique, you are agreeing to abide by our Harassment and Accessibility Policies. We reserve the right to monitor the exchange of messages and materials that are naturally recorded in our system, and to encourage critiquers to report to us any concerning behavior or correspondence. We reserve the right to send (a) warning(s) and/or cancel your purchase in the event of (a) violation(s) of our policies.
Limitation of Liability
WriteOnCon endeavors to include in the Critique Boutique only professionals screened for credibility, credentials, and reputation; however, we do not endorse the professionals completing services through our Critique Boutique, nor do we explicitly monitor the quality of their services. Quality and depth of feedback will naturally vary between participating professionals. We reserve the right to choose whether to offer a second critique, at no additional cost, to buyers who feel their first purchased critique did not meet professional standards of quality. We will evaluate such situations on a case-by-case basis, and are not obligated to take any action or offer additional feedback.
We cannot guarantee that critiquers’ feedback will be a good fit for your manuscript or vision, and are not obligated to take any action on feedback perceived as unhelpful that is otherwise of good quality and effort. However, we will not tolerate critiquers who violate our Harrassment and Accessibility Policies. We will assess situations on a case-by-case basis; we reserve the right to either remove or provide a warning to any critiquer found to be in violation of our policies. WriteOnCon Inc. will make every effort to maintain a functional website but we are not responsible for site crashes or other technical bugs that might interfere with your use of the Critique Boutique. We will work to solve any issues that arise as soon as possible. If you are faced with a technical problem that prevents you from submitting/receiving your materials and fulfilling your Critique Boutique purchase (examples: non-functioning website, broken page links) but do not report it to us at [email protected] before the closure of Critique Boutique submissions, we reserve the right to decline a refund.
WriteOnCon Inc. will make reasonable efforts to ensure buyers of Critique Boutique services are aware of all deadlines for submission well in advance of said deadlines, by announcement through our newsletter, social media channels, and website. However, buyers hold sole responsibility for submitting their materials prior to the closure of Critique Boutique submissions. Any purchased services for which materials are not received by the submission deadline will not be completed. Payment will not be refunded in instances of failure to submit materials, except in extenuating or compassionate circumstances at our discretion.
Buyers of Critique Boutique services are responsible for selecting and submitting to a critique team that matches their interest and needs; in submitting their materials, buyers acknowledge that any member of the selected team may complete the purchased feedback. Buyers may not request critique from any particular individual within the Critique Boutique, and WriteOnCon Inc. cannot guarantee that a buyer will receive feedback from any particular individual on a critique team. We are not obligated to offer refund or alternative feedback to any buyer who received critique from someone other than the person(s) in whom they were primarily interested.
While we strongly encourage our participating professionals to complete critiques within one month of submission, WriteOnCon Inc. cannot guarantee that purchased feedback will be received in a timely manner. We will make reasonable effort to ensure all buyers of Critique Boutique services receive feedback prior to the closure of the Critique Boutique four weeks after the WriteOnCon conference weekend. Any submissions that have not been completed at the time of the closure of the Critique Boutique will be refunded in full with no offer for alternative options for completion.
WriteOnCon Inc. reserves the right to refund or not refund any and all Critique Boutique purchases at our discretion, and our decision is final.
General Rights Reserved
WriteOnCon Inc. has made a reasonable effort to account for any and all situations that could arise through your usage of the Critique Boutique. Should a situation arise that is not yet covered in these terms and conditions, we reserve the right to take action at our discretion.

We will do our best to respond in a timely manner but do not guarantee a turnaround time and are not responsible for any issues that may arise (such as the passing of deadlines) as a result of not having gotten to the email quickly enough.
