Great advice!
You mentioned that you reviewed books. Do you have any suggestions on where to find those opportunities?

Hi Pamela
I’m not sure where you live and my experience is specific to Australia. There are several library journals in Australia including Magpies that are often on the lookout for reviewers. Chat to your local librarians, particularly the acquisitions team, they may be able to provide a pathway for you. I’d also hunt online. Alternatively, create your own blog around your preferred genre, gain some followers, then approach publishers. I hope that is helpful! Best wishes, Allison

Thank you for sharing these tips! I like how each tip segues smoothly into the next.

I’d like to learn more about grants. Can any writer writing any story apply for a grant? I understand that some grants have eligibility requirements; I’m asking more generally.

Thanks!

Hi Marisa
Yes and no, it depends on the criteria of the specific grant. Some are for emerging writers, while others are for those with several published titles. I guess it will depend on where you live and availability. In Australia, we have local Government grants, those at Federal level, and also bequeathed grants. Have a hunt and see if there is one that may suit you! All the best, Allison
