I thought working from home would mean more time to write, but it’s been hard to create a routine, any tips for how to be productive when every day is different between kids and quarantine stressers?

What are your suggestions for finding time to write when you work full-time and are exhausted by the time you get home, yet have so many ideas you need to get out of your head?

How do you handle social media right now? And not feel chewed up and spit out by it?
I’ve worked from home even pre-pandemic, but I’m finding the sudden changes on social media have changed how we interact with people. It’s a little bit harder to find that sense of community. Do you have any recommendations for putting the SOCIAL back in social media?

Since having more time at home, I thought I could write more, yet my focus is not on my writing when the world seems to change daily. Any tips on getting that focus back?

How do you balance the need to research (for historical fiction) with need to write the book?
Thanks, Janae. That is really helpful! My child protagonist wouldn’t need to know eveything but just enough. Thanks, Ellie, for reminding me to follow my passion but not get sucked down the rabbit hole.
Some of my ending chapters are not always ending “being a total page turner.” It might end on a day or a scene that is “just over.” How important is this when writing each chapter?

I’ve heard we shouldn’t write about the quarantine but that’s the universal experience right now so is there a way to use the dumpster fire to fuel your writing without actually writing about it?

Alexandra – thanks for your honesty. I feel your pain – and have also struggled with mental, emotional health during these times. Allow yourself some grace!

Has the pandemic made you reevaluate certain things you want to create or how you see the world especially with lockdowns and staying home? Does it affect your writing?
How do you balance the responsibility to know what’s going on in the world with emotional burnout?

Thanks for asking this question! I, too, am writing historical fiction and this is exactly what I needed to hear…without realizing I needed to 🙂
