Hi Beth,

Thanks for doing this!

Did your process change at all when writing for Star Wars as opposed to writing your other novels?

I also had a question about your Star Wars book. How do those type of deals come about? Is it something that they approach your agent for, or do authors seek it out?

Hey, I’m also in rural NC! Do you participate in any writing groups? How do you find doing a solitary job in a solitary location?

What is your average daily schedule?

Being from Charlotte, I worry that I won’t be able to have as large of a readership with my novel as authors from LA, or New York.
How do you deal with being a Carolinian author as a NYT bestseller?
Do you find it makes it easier or more difficult to gain a lot of readers?

Hi! Thanks so much for doing this! I’m in the process of editing my debut novel. With your success, can you give us some advice on the querying process? Thank you!

Hello. Thanks for being here!
I’m curious how having a best seller impacted your life?
In good and not-so-good ways.
Thanks.

Thank you for doing this, Beth! Sometimes people assume that NYT Bestseller = financial wealth. What would you say to that myth?

When you have books published in so many different languages, do you get ARCs of them all? Do you get to do book launches in all the many places?

Hi Beth! When you were first starting out as an aspiring author, was it a goal of yours to be a NYT bestseller? I would like to think all writers envision their name on that list one day, but of course not everyone makes it. Any tips for enjoying the successes you have as an author no matter how small/to not compare yourself to others who succeeded in ways you didn’t?

Thanks for sharing with us, Beth!

I’m curious how you balance writing time with marketing, going on book tours, participating in events such as this one, and hosting writing retreats? (Not to mention life in general!)

What did you find changed about being an author (and the stories you write) when you became a best-seller? Did some things get harder and others easier?

What was your day job while writing your debut novel/ your first novel to be published? What made you write your first book and what was your journey to finding an agent?

Hi Beth!
Thank you so much for being a part of this and sharing your insight.

What is the best way to handle social media when you become more prominent as an author? Are that certain platforms that are must-haves or any one should avoid? How does technology affect one’s life/status/work as a bestselling author?

Thank you and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. Long live the Rebellion!

Hey Beth! Thanks so much for your critiques through the WriteOnCon fundraising drive?

I was wondering when you knew that ACROSS THE UNIVERSE was going to be the big success it became. When you came up with the concept? While you were drafting? When it was on sub?

Thanks!
Rebecca

Can we follow you on social media? If so, which platform do you prefer?
Also, which author platform did you curate before you were published?
Tips?
And most importantly Duke or Carolina?

Hi, Beth! Do you have any advice for what a writer whose debut novel won’t be out for a couple years can do before publication (besides joining a debut group)? Thanks!

Hi Beth! Thank you SO much for answering our questions! I was wondering if you had the entire Across the Universe trilogy outlined/planned before the first book published and was announced as a NYT bestseller or no? And how did the news effect your drafting process (the writing and the emotion of the writing) of the rest of the series? Thank you, again 🙂

How do you recommend that we connect with other authors and readers on Twitter? I have a popular blog (and used to love reading yours) but know that so many writers and authors are on Twitter, but I’m not sure how to do it.

Is there a certain image you have to maintain being a NYT best seller? As in look like an author in a sense? Did you have to change your personality, hobbies, interests since becoming a best seller?

Beth, thanks so much for sharing about how much you had to deal with rejection before reaching the level of success that you have! What made you keep pushing through after so many years of trying? How did you know you were meant to still meant to be a writer? Any encouragement for those of us that are trying to survive through rejection? Thanks again!
