Do acquiring editors usually work directly with writers? Or do they work with a team of folks

Can you talk about when an editor asks for a Revise & Resubmit? What’s best for an author and editor to work collaboratively so that the R&R results in a book deal?

Rajaini, how do you deal with the mental aspect of constantly revising a MS. Did you ever feel sick of revisions and tempted to give up and work on a new project?

If you’re writing a series, does the editor always stay the same? How is the process different with the sequel novels as opposed to the first book– particularly in regards to timeline?

What should you expect from your agent or editor with respect to marketing or promoting your book? Does the agent or editor give a guideline or checklist of what you are supposed to do to promote or market your book?

Hi. As an newly agented author, I have just begun this next step but I have worries about book covers in the future. As an African American Muslim who writes #ownvoices, I have strong opinions about what I don’t want.
But of course I will discuss this with my agent . I just want to know the kind of suggestions it’s okay for me to make.

Rajani, I’m so happy to see a fellow Soaring20sPB creator presenting! For either of you, how do you manage multiple writing projects that are in different stages of completion?

How would you suggest going about doing this? And what is difference between working with a literary agent, editor and publisher?
I’m so glad these are recorded because my grandson broke a glass vase which shattered all over the kitchen and rug under dining room table! I’ve been cleaning since I said hello. He’s okay! And I don’t mind interacting with him on all levels because at 7, he illustrates and writes his own comics! LoL I just wish I knew books for his age to help him with illustrating and writing that keep his attention. Ha!

Hi Rajani and Eric! Based on your experience in working with an editor on your own work, has that impacted how you approach writing your next project(s)?
If a writer signs an agent with a certain type of book, but plans to write something very different afterwards, should that be communicated sooner than later, or is it better to take one project at a time?

As authors, what are some things you love when you work with an editor that makes your work even better?
What happens when your author is in love with a new book idea and the agent isn’t feeling it, not that they don’t think it could be marketable. What happens to that idea? Shelved for ever, or does the agent give them permission to write and see how it turns out? Maybe hybrid to self publish or do you co-agent with another agent that might be into the new idea?
Hey there! I loved my recent editor for many reasons, but know writers who have had different editors and have been frustrated bc of the types of changes required and crazy deadlines. Does the agent get involved?
Hi Rajani! How much did Midsummer’s Mayhem change after going to your editor?
Tamara is here!
